Luisa had been working in the consulting industry for nine years and had recently gotten her MBA, while Marisol had just gotten her MIB degree from GGSB in London before moving to Miami.
As for me, I had just graduated from an MBA at MIP Politecnico Milano and moved to Chile after working for over nine years designing in the fashion industry, all around the world.
Somehow we all got the itch to start something on our own, something that would somehow merge our passion for beautifully designed products, social and environmental sustainability, and education.
After long debates and discussions, Nomadista.co was born: a destination for people who love unique fashion and care about the stories behind their creators.
We looked for up-and-coming designers around the world who had interesting stories behind their brands and on September 20, we launched our first Fall Collection, with twelve hand-picked designers from Africa, Europe, Asia and the Americas.
Some of them have created their collection using ancient artisan techniques and eco-fabrics, while others employ women from vulnerable communities and use melted bullet-casings to make stunning jewelry. Every brand has a story!
We wanted to have a direct impact through our work, that reinforced our commitment to make the world a better place. For every $100 you spend at Nomadista.co, we donate a day of school (which includes 75 per cent of the required daily nutrition, health checkups and eight hours of learning) to young children in vulnerable communities, so they can have a better start in life.
Our vision of the future of Nomadista.co includes the creation of a private label which sources the best, most sustainable fabrics from different places around the world, and the expansion of our school day donation to the communities where we source and fabricate our line.
We also want to continue to expand and raise awareness for the need to have a more responsible, inclusive fashion industry in which everyone wins.
We hope to disrupt the fashion world by creating a new way of consuming clothing and accessories. We believe that there is a growing number of compassionate, intelligent (and yes, fashionable!) people who care about the stories behind the products they buy.
We envision Nomadista.co as the go-to destination for these people. It will be the place they come to for things they can’t find anywhere else.
