The Aston MBA is ranked among the best in the world for return on investment by the Economist. And for good reason. The triple-accredited, 12-month MBA program costs £25,550 ($31,000), a fraction of the cost of similar MBA programs in the UK and the US.
Around 90% of Aston MBA grads land new jobs within six months of graduation, with an average salary increase of over 60%.
We spoke to three professionals from emerging economies to find out why they chose the Aston MBA and how their careers have developed since. Here’s what they said:
Janet Bolo, MBA ’14
Janet has over a decade’s experience in finance and worked for Deloitte in her native Kenya prior to her MBA. After graduation, she went straight into a UK-based management role at EY.
When I decided to study an MBA in the UK, I looked for a business school that was well ranked, affordable, and had a variety of subjects and exchange programs on offer. Aston gave me a great experience, good networks and contacts, and valuable resources that made it easier for me to get a job in the UK.
An MBA is an enabler for both men and women in business. And Aston has a good reputation in the UK jobs market. When I applied for EY, Aston was very supportive; helping me develop my resume and holding mock interview sessions.
Basel Hammoda, MBA ’14
A qualified doctor in his native Egypt, Basel moved into healthcare management, working in Saudi Arabia prior to his MBA. He now works in management consulting at Capgemini UK.
The Aston MBA proposition is unique. Compared to other business schools, Aston is more realistic in its curriculum and the benefits that it promises to deliver. Plus, Aston’s focus on entrepreneurship is valuable, even if you pursue a corporate career.
The Aston MBA is a springboard for your career. On a professional level, it gave me the hands-on experience - working on a number of projects with different size organizations from multiple sectors – which gave my current employer the confidence that I could add value and drive the business forward.
Overall, the MBA was a life-changing experience for me. It was what I needed to explore new things in the world and about myself. The inclusiveness and diversity of the MBA cohort, and the wider city of Birmingham, helped me expand my horizons.
Pronoy Das, MBA ‘13
An experienced engineer, Pronoy relocated thousands of miles from India to pursue an MBA at Aston. After graduation, he took the MBA triple jump - changing role, industry, and location - and landed a business analyst job at EDF Energy in the UK.
My decision on choosing an MBA program was pegged on location. Aston's intensity of curriculum, accreditation, reputation, and credibility as an evolving school in the information age, stood out. The Aston MBA was affordable, and provided the specializations and the scholarship that I was after.
The Aston MBA is transformational. It has shaped me as an individual and in terms of understanding the language of management. And it’s enabled me to succeed in whatever career path I choose.
