The launch of Cranfield’s new range of sector specific career events has already proven an early success for 2013, with students securing multiple interviews and placements as a result.
The events include attendees from Cranfield’s full time and executive MBA programmes as well as relevant MSc students and Cranfield alumni. Hosted by Cranfield School of Management’s Career Development Service, an array of industry experienced guest speakers fill the day with insightful presentations and topical debate panels.
Since the 2012 pilot concluded with the hugely successful Financial Services Event held in London last November, the range has been extended this year to include the School’s first Careers in Technology Event, due to take place on 21st May 2013. Confirmed guest speakers include global business leader Bloomberg amongst others.
The Logistics and Supply Chain Event kick-started the proceedings last February with representatives from industry leaders such as DHL. ‘We were delighted to see such enthusiasm from both MBA and MSc students at the Logistics event this year. Recruiters and students alike clearly benefit from this focused approach to career networking.’ Grace McKenzie, Organiser and Business Development Manager at Cranfield.

The next event taking place will be Careers in Consultancy, being held at InterContinental London Westminster on 23rd April. The Career Development Team has received an influx of recruiters interested in attending and is currently in the process of confirming guest speakers.
Director of the Career Development Service Colin Hudson comments, ‘We are very grateful for the continual involvement of our partner organisations. These industry-focussed events provide an excellent networking platform for students and recruiters to engage. With sector background and experience as common ground, recruiters are more likely to meet the right candidates for potential opportunities.’
Due to the heightened level of success at these events, the team have already started to coordinate the 2014 portfolio and are looking at expand further to coincide with the introduction of Cranfield’s new Masters in Management programme that starts this year.
