The full-time 12-month program focuses on exploring the fundamentals of marketing, with special emphasis on technology and digital media.
According to Professor Nelson Phillips, Chair in Strategy and Organizational Behaviour, this program is a special one: “The intention is to teach people, and help them to work through the newest findings in marketing, understand the importance of technical changes that are happening with the internet and mobile marketing, and also social change and how that is impacting marketing.
“We aim to have context in terms of technological, social and business context of marketing which will help them get entry-level positions and move up quickly in the companies they are placed in.”
The MSc Strategic Marketing program was started after Imperial recognised the need for people who are well-trained in marketing, and its own strong marketing research group. By combining these two, the program has been designed to reflect the school’s know-how from corporate partners and companies.
The primary focus remains on leadership and working in groups while exposing students to consumer behaviour, brand management and pricing models.
Aimed at recent graduates with less than two years of work experience, this program hopes to give students hands-on experience to help them better understand strategic marketing in practice.
Marketing professor Dr. Andreas Eisingerich explains the aim of this demanding course. “The goal is simple: help students harness social technology in support of a clear signal and a focussed goal.” He also stresses knowing that one does not need a lot of money or power to make a change using marketing.
Students on this course will also get a chance to work with faculty in engineering and medicine, using real-life case studies to better understand what marketing is all about.
The course tuition fees are £19,950 and applications will be open from late December 2010 for next year’s intake. Scholarships are also available.
