The 17 students were drawn from ESADE's MSc and MBA programmes, including students from the prestigious MSc International Management (MIM) that ESADE offers as a member of the Community of European Management Schools (CEMS).
The ESADE students toured the Google facilities and had an opportunity to meet some of the company’s workers and executives, who explained its internal operations, business philosophy, work and results. The students attended seminars on Google’s innovation model and took part in an informal meeting with some ESADE alumni employed at Google, who explained their experiences and day-to-day work.
Several ESADE students with international profiles, professional experience and high academic qualifications were also interviewed for job roles by Google's Human Resources team.
Google has already recruited 22 ESADE students over the last three years; 20 work at the headquarters in Dublin and the other two are located in Poland and Silicon Valley in the United States.
Aida Martinez, who graduated in 2011 with a CEMS MSc International Management, is now an Entrepreneur and Advertising Associate at Google. She said that it was ESADE who put her in touch with Google in the first place, and that being active in the entrepreneurial club at school also taught her to think like an entrepreneur.
Bart Heideman, Strategic Account Manager at Google graduated from the ESADE CEMS MIM in 2010: "The rigourous and endless focus on team work at ESADE, while it drove me to madness at the time, is the one thing that has really helped me in working and succeeding here!" he said.
Melissa Mellado, a current CEMS MIM student who will graduate this year said it was helpful to learn about the different functions within Google because, "Everyone uses Google but no one actually knows what they are doing."
The aim of these visits is to get students out of the classroom to find out more about the world’s major companies, come into direct contact with them, learn how they work, gain experience, expand their network and open up new career horizons.
Other ESADE CEMS groups of students recently visited companies in Paris including L’Oréal, Société Générale and Unibail-Rodamco.
