“We expect many more students to join in the January, May and August 2010 intakes,” says Professor John Grainger, Murdoch Dubai’s Academic Dean. “The program has proven very popular as students are particularly attracted to gaining an Australian degree and to the fact that it can be completed in just one year.”
Established in 2008, Murdoch Dubai is a branch of Murdoch University which is based in Perth, Western Australia. Students at the Murdoch Dubai campus have access to all databases and academic services provided on the main campus in Australia, and must meet the same academic requirements.
The Dubai MBA program can also be completed in two years part-time, with classes offered in the evenings and on weekends to suit working professionals.
“As a general MBA it covers all basic areas of business management such as accounting, organizational behavior, marketing management, business finance, project management, risk management and international business,” adds Grainger.
Of its first ten graduates, seven of made the long journey to Perth to attend Murdoch’s largest ever graduation ceremony last month. Professor Grainger believes they have all gained a “firm knowledge of the essentials of business management”.
The graduates are all expatriates who live in Dubai for professional reasons. They are from a variety of countries including the US, Belgium, Kenya, Jordan, India and Iran.
Abdelkarim Boutaour, a graduate from Belgium, says he undertook the program because he “needs to stay afloat with technology”. He says the Murdoch Dubai MBA, an internationally recognized Australian degree, will help to sharpen his judgment and develop a methodical approach to challenges.
Student can, at any point in time, pursue the same degree at Murdoch in Australia, according to the official Murdoch Dubai website.
