Prodigy Finance Awards $5,000 Scholarship To Ghanaian Student For Master’s In The US

A Ghanaian student has received a $5,000 Prodigy Finance scholarship for a master’s in business analytics at the University of Louisville College of Business

Student loan company Prodigy Finance has awarded a a $5,000 African Student Matching Scholarship to Michael Kofi Acheampong, a Ghanaian student preparing to pursue a Master of Science in Business Analytics at the University of Louisville College of Business, Kentucky, USA.  

The award recognizes his academic potential, leadership skills, and commitment to Ghana’s social and economic growth when returning home after his studies. 

“This scholarship eases the finances for my studies abroad and allows me to better focus on my future career development. It is a stepping stone towards achieving my academic and professional goals. I am eager to contribute to my community by helping small businesses thrive and promoting sustainable business practices,” says Michael.

Michael, who plans to begin his master’s program in spring 2025, was recognized for his passion for business innovation and sustainability, and his plans to make a positive impact in his community.


Why study abroad to return to Ghana? 

Michael’s decision to study abroad stems from his desire to address the challenges faced by small businesses in Ghana while gaining a global perspective.

“I believe education is a tool for societal development,” he says. “I want to contribute to economic growth by empowering others with knowledge and resources.”

The University of Louisville College of Business is known for its focus on entrepreneurship, social responsibility, and sustainability. He hopes the program’s focus on both theoretical learning and practical application will prepare him to make an impact in Ghana.

Long term, he plans to use strategic management and financial planning in industries focused on technological sustainability, climate change, and ethical business practices.
