Following closely behind is IIM Bangalore, securing second position, while IIM Kozhikode has obtained the third position in the esteemed NIRF Ranking of management institutes in India.
These institutes have consistently demonstrated their excellence in management education and have once again affirmed their prominence among India's top business school destinations after retaining the same positions they achieved in 2023.
NIRF Ranking 2024: Changes In Top 10
In the NIRF ranking 2024 for management institutes, there have been some notable shifts (see table below).
IIM Calcutta has moved to the fifth position this year, dropping a position for the second year in a row after placing fourth in 2023. The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi has risen from fifth to fourth in the ranking's management category.
IIM Mumbai has risen to sixth in 2024, supplanting IIM Lucknow which drops to seventh. IIM Indore retains its position of eighth, while Xavier School of Management (XLRI), Jamshedpur also remains the same in the ninth spot.
Lastly, IIT Bombay remains the Indian business school that rounds out the top 10. Notably, the National Institute of Industrial Engineering Mumbai, an engineering school that featured among the top 10 last year, does not appear in this year's NIRF Ranking.
NIRF Ranking 2024: Big Names In Top 20
Outside of the top 10 in this year's NIRF Ranking are several big name Indian business schools which would have hoped to ascend to the top 10.
After placing 13th in 2023, Management Development Institute (MDI) narrowly misses out by placing 11th. Meanwhile, IIM Rohtak fails to improve on its ranking of 12th. Symbiosis Institute of Business Management, on the other hand, rises from 17th to 13th.
IIM Raipur, a top 10 hopeful after placing 11th in 2023, ranks 14th. Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, a school based in New Delhi, ranks 15th. Meanwhile, IIT Madras secures 16th position, dropping one place.
Rising significantly after ranking 24th in the 2023 NIRF Ranking, IIM Ranchi is 17th, while IIT Roorkee remains placed in the 18th spot. Rounding out the top 20 are IIT Kharagpur and SP Jain Institute of Management and Research.
