A personalised welcome message on the NASDAQ screen in Times Square is how Grenoble MBA students were welcomed to New York during their semester there as a part of Grenoble’s Transcontinental Program.

The Transcontinental Program now allows second-year students to study either in New York at Pace University or in Beijing at Beihang University for a semester – or for two consecutive semesters, one in each location!

“By spending one or two semesters overseas, students get to better apprehend different cultures and business ways, which is essential when aspiring to work on the international scene,” Mark Thomas, Grenoble Associate Dean and Director of International Affairs, said.

MBA students were able to travel to New York for the past semester to study at Pace and now, at the end of the semester, have the option of completing an internship in the USA for the summer.

The semester at Pace focused strongly on finance and included courses such as Money and Capital Markets, International Banking and Financial Markets and Advanced Corporate Finance.

Outside of class, Grenoble students were familiarized with New York’s financial scene through visits to the New York Stock Exchange, the NASDAQ offices and to companies like JP Morgan, Crédit Agricole, Bloomberg and Natixis, as well as meetings with alumni.

Similarly in Beijing, students complemented their courses at Beihang University with company visits and guest lectures. Students were mostly enrolled in compulsory courses, such as Management Control, International Business Law and Information Systems, with both Grenoble and local professors during the past semester.

Beihang University also welcomed Grenoble students to round out their experiences by attending Chinese language classes and participating in student clubs while in Beijing.

“We ensure students get a well-balanced experience between a strong international exposure and rigorous academic content, thanks to quality partnerships such as the ones we have with Pace University and Beihang University,” Thomas said.

These opportunities both inside and outside of class definitely made for a busy semester or two abroad – now, at the end of the semester, Grenoble students can return to their home campus with expanded views of the academic and business worlds.
