We recently welcomed Spain's IESE Business School to the BusinessBecause network and the UK's University of Bath School of Management has announced new scholarship funding.
Both schools have a number of juicy scholarships available for different categories of applicants. Read on for a round-up of what's on offer for MBA applicants this year!
At IESE, ranked 9th in the world by the Financial Times and top in the world by The Economist, tuition for the 19-month full-time MBA is €72,000 (US$94,000).
At Bath School of Management, tuition for the 12-month full-time MBA is £28,000 (US$45,000).
Both schools offer scholarships that cover 25 per cent, 50 per cent, and occasionally 100 per cent of the total cost of tuition.
This year, Bath announced a variety of scholarships with a combined value of over £250,000 and IESE has dedicated €6 million to scholarships and financial aid.
Full-time MBA applicants may wish to apply for a combination of scholarships at the point of applying for their place on the programme.
Deadlines
Those interested in applying to IESE will be in time for Round Three: January 21, 2013; Round Four: February 25, 2013; Round Five: April 8, 2013 and the Final Round: May 27, 2013.
Application deadlines for the Bath MBA are 1st of April 2013 for international students and 1st August 2013 for UK/EU students.
Here’s a round-up of the different scholarships available to applicants at Bath and IESE:
Scholarships based on academic merit
Bath School of Management
The Chevening Scholarship is awarded on the basis of a completed application and interview performance. The award is for £28,000 including a top-up from Bath.
The Dean’s MBA award of £14,000 is offered to high GMAT scorers.
IESE Business School
The IESE Trust awards 20 to 30 scholarships to students with outstanding academic records, excellent professional experience and personal merit. The scholarships cover 25 or 50 per cent of tuition fees.
Scholarships based on nationality
Bath School of Management
Bath MBA offers £3,000 to UK/EU candidates who have been unsuccessful in securing the International Office Scholarship of £3,000.
IESE Business School
IESE Scholarships for Students from Developing Countries support outstanding candidates who live and work in a developing country.
IESE also offers dedicated scholarships for students from Germany, the UK, Africa, Latin America, China, Asia, India and Japan. Students granted these scholarships are expected to help the alumni chapters promote IESE in their countries.
IESE offers scholarships worth up to 25 per cent of total fees to deserving candidates from emerging countries.
The school also offers scholarships worth up to 25 per cent of total fees to deserving Women in Business. These women must have a track record of outstanding professional accomplishment.
Scholarships awarded by corporate sponsors or external bodies
Bath School of Management
The MOOG Scholarship is only open to applicants who have accepted a place on the full-time MBA and paid their reservation fee. Qualifying applicants will be invited in July or August to complete the application form and submit an essay. The successful applicant receives £8,000 and may also be invited to work with defence manufacturing firm Moog Inc. during their final project.
The Santander Scholarship offers £5,300; The Steve Huckvale Scholarship £5,000; The USA alumni fund $5,500; and The Jack Cater Scholarship £3,000 to candidates for the Bath MBA.
IESE Business School
The Cámara de Comercio, Industria y Navegación de Barcelona awards two scholarships: one to graduates from a Barcelona university and another to students from any country, although preference is given to students from developing countries.
The Fundación Ramón Areces awards one scholarship to students of Spanish nationality.
The Private Foundation awards four scholarships to students who can demonstrate a special need for financial assistance, with preference given to students from developing countries.
Scholarships based on background or work experience
Bath School of Management
The Third Sector Scholarship is open to candidates from a third sector organisation or public sector. £11,200 is awarded to candidates who have a significant track record of contribution to the third sector over several years, in addition to meeting the Bath MBA entry criteria.
IESE Business School
Scholarships worth up to 25 per cent of total fees are offered to entrepreneurs promoting innovation on every level. These scholarships support candidates who have successfully launched a new business.
