About Tsinghua Global MBA Program

The Tsinghua Global MBA Program is tailored for future leaders who aspire to propel their careers on to the global stage while maintaining a focus on China. Tsinghua University School of Economics and Management (SEM) and the MIT Sloan School of Management (MIT Sloan) have been partners since 1996 to bring students the most comprehensive general management education available in mainland China.

Being based in Beijing will provide you with an immersive environment to experience Chinese business culture and develop China Roots. Concurrently, Tsinghua SEM’s international student body and internationally trained faculty will help you develop a Global Vision

Tsinghua Global MBA Program Application Information

The Tsinghua Global MBA Program expects to admit students with proven intellect, integrity, leadership skills, and excellent development potential, who can challenge themselves and the status quo in their pursuits of success. Admissions Criteria for International Applicants and Permanent Residents of Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan:

  • Undergraduate degree from a recognized university
  • Competitive GMAT/GRE score or Tsinghua MBA Alternative Entrance Exam score;
  • Completed Tsinghua MBA online application, paid application fee and submission of required supporting materials. 

Note: 

International Candidates or Permanent Residents of Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan can use the Tsinghua MBA Alternative Entrance Exam as a substitute for the GMAT or GRE for admission into our MBA Programs. The test is similar to the GMAT in that it is a multiple choice math, sentence correction critical thinking, reading comprehension test with an analytical writing component. Registration for the test is also free of charge to prospective students. The test will be arranged after interview and on selective basis.

A completed application should include ALL of the following items. Scanned version of documents to be submitted online: 

  • Completed Tsinghua MBA Application Form 
  • Scanned undergraduate degree certificate 
  • Scanned undergraduate transcript 
  • Two recommendation letters submitted by reference 
  • Current resume (1 page) 
  • Scanned passport page with personal information 
  • Application Form for Tsinghua University Scholarship (if applicable)  


Note: Candidates from Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan do not need to provide a HSK score.  

Dual Degree Options

Tsinghua MBA dual degree program enables students to supplement the broad-based management education they receive in the first year at Tsinghua with additional knowledge and management tools they can acquire at our partner schools in the second academic year. Candidates of the dual degree programs will finish their courses at Tsinghua and our partner school within 2 years and receive two degrees.

Partner school: MIT Sloan School of Management

Degree: MBA degree from Tsinghua University + Master of Science in Operation Research degree from Columbia University

Application Process: 

1. Early Admission 

Before joining the Tsinghua-MIT Global MBA Program, candidates may apply to the Tsinghua MBA/MIT MSMS Dual Degree Program by filling out the application form in the online application systems of both Tsinghua MBA and MIT MSMS. (Early Admission Deadline for 2020 Entry: Feb. 15, 2020; Minimum GMAT score: 700.) 

2. General Admission 

After entering the Tsinghua-MIT Global MBA Program, students have another chance to apply to the MIT MSMS program in the second semester. 



Tsinghua SEM - Columbia

The Tsinghua SEM – Columbia dual degree options enables students to study at Columbia University during their second academic year. After entering the Tsinghua-MIT Global MBA Program, students can apply to one of below four options in the first semester.

Tsinghua SEM and HEC Paris offer a dual degree MBA option to Global MBA students from both schools. Tsinghua-MIT Global MBA Program students, having completed first year’s core curriculum, can apply to HEC to pursue their second year of MBA studies by taking elective courses from the HEC MBA Program.
